Care Guide

Sarees are made to endure — but like all textiles, they benefit from attentive care.

Proper storage, handling, and cleaning preserve both fabric integrity and colour over time.

Storage

  • Store sarees in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Refold periodically to prevent permanent creasing along one line.
  • Use breathable cotton or muslin covers rather than plastic.
  • Avoid hanging heavy silk sarees for extended periods.

Cleaning

  • Dry clean only, unless otherwise specified.
  • Avoid frequent washing to preserve fabric structure and zari work.
  • Inform your dry cleaner of delicate elements such as handwoven silk or metallic threads.

Handling & Wearing

  • Avoid direct contact with perfume or deodorant on the fabric.
  • Take care when pinning to prevent tears in delicate weaves.
  • After wearing, allow the saree to air before storing.

Preserving for Generations

With thoughtful care, a saree can be worn, restored, and passed forward across generations.

Maintenance is not merely preservation — it is continuity.
